Grounding Antennas when not in use? 2 years 10 months ago #526

I'm using the AG 8x2 Plus with a Flex/PGXL/TGXL (so2r) for some time now.

1) What is a recommended setup in the 'AG for Windows' application to ground the antennas when the radio is not being used, without shutting down the Flex or SmartSDR?
2) Can you confirm that when SmartSDR is shut down all of the antennas are automatically grounded?

Tnx!

Dear John,

I just did some testing to make sure I am not guessing.

If you turn off SSDR, AG will go back to "None" band
If you don't have any antennas set as "None" band the AG will disconnect the antennas and all antennas will be grounded.
All unselected ports are automatically grounded on the hardware level.

At the time being there is no option to ground the antennas while SSDR is active other than maybe selecting a band on the SSDR that's not defined on the AG?

Hello Dragisa,

Thank you for the research and reply.

Please record this as a new feature request :)

In the meantime, I will select an undefined band (like 2200 meters) to ground the antennas if the Flex is on and not used.

Tnx!

Dragisa,
Is the grounding of antennas when the AG has no power the same as when powered and NONE frequency is selected? I also believe under the no DC power the A and B input ports are open. Is this correct?

None band is just band selection, it indicate that the antenna or button should be available (and possibly active) even if there's no frequency data present.
Selected ports go to out, unselected ports are grounded.

A and B are always open, yes.
