Amp in/out relays not activating during PTT? 3 years 10 months ago #222

Just started using the PGXL amp at our remote 6m EME site. Antenna SWR is 1.3:1 or better. Amp runs fine for 15 minutes or so and then the amp stops amplifying. It is like the in/out relays in the amp no longer become engaged when in transmit. It seemed to occur when the indicated temp of the amp got to ~64 degrees C. When it gets into this state where it stops making high power, the PTT indication is TRUE, Vdd is at 52V, Id is at 2 or 3 amps but all that is at the output of the amp is the drive power that never seems to be switched into the PA. The situation seems to clear when we left the amp off overnight. But this condition occurs every time we try to use it. The remote site is a 4 hour drive from here. Is there something I should try when I drive out to the site at the next opportunity? This amp needs to be reliable.

Amp in/out relays not activating during PTT? 3 years 10 months ago #223

Hi Ned,

sure, amp must be reliable. This scenario I hear for the first time and looks strange.

Can we take a look on it with Team Viewer?

I have installed TeamViewer. Please email me and I will reply with ID/password. I will need to know when you connect so that I can turn on the amp and set the station up to transmit.
